Address: 71 Hazelton Avenue
Neighbourhood: Yorkville
The property: A renovated Yorkville Victorian with high ceilings, original fireplaces and marble accents.
The history: The property, built in 1895, was gutted by a previous owner in 2006. The owners had been renting out the house while they travelled abroad. They decided to sell so they could keep travelling without worry.
The fate: The buyers are a family from Kleinburg looking to move out of the suburbs and into the city. They loved the property’s proximity to Yorkville. Whole Foods is right across the street.
The sale: The sellers initially had a hard time finding someone to take the property off their hands: it was on the market for 61 days in September 2014, and then for 75 days at the end of 2015. They switched agents, and the new sales team restaged the home and launched a Facebook advertising campaign. The property got two offers and the sellers accepted the highest, at $10,000 over asking.
